Wi-Fi is all over the places. It is one of the easiest ways to access the internet from any device. Among all the devices, smartphones are the most common devices to connect to a Wi-Fi network. Over a period of time, you must have connected to countless Wi-Fi networks from your school/college, cafe, public transport, library, friends home, and many places. Like most other devices, Android also store the password securely so that you can connect to the network effortlessly the next you want to connect to the Wi-Fi. This feature is helpful, particularly if you are frequent to a Wi-Fi and you can connect without having to enter the password again and again. The problem arises when you need to connect to the same network from a different device. Unless you remembered the password (which is highly unlikely), you wouldn’t be able to connect to the Wi-Fi. In that case, you try to find the saved password on your previously connected Android device.
Android saves these passwords securely and makes it hard for anyone to access the file. If you are in search of a guide to help you find saved Wi-Fi password on your Android smartphone, then this article is for you.
How To See Saved Wi-Fi Passwords on Android
There are a couple of ways you can use to check for saved Wi-Fi passwords on Android. Most of them require complex file editor and multiple steps. But in this tutorial, I will keep things easy for you. Just follow the below steps, and you will be able to retrieve all the passwords for saved Wi-Fi networks on your android.
Pre-requisites: Android store Wi-Fi password in the root directory for security and convenience. So, in order to access that location, your device needs to be rooted. If your device is not rooted and you have no plan for rooting your phone, then this tutorial is not for you. I am sorry if I have wasted your time — those who have a rooted android phone you can carry on with this guide.
Step-1. Install ‘WiFi Key Recovery‘ app from the Google Play Store.
Step-2. Open the app and grant root access to the app (most important).
Step-3. After granting the root access, you will be taken to a screen where all the saved Wi-Fi passwords will be shown.
Step-4. If you want to search for a specific Wi-Fi network, type the SSID or Wi-Fi name in the search box. This will only show the network you need to see.
Step-5. Passwords of each Wi-Fi network will be labeled as ‘psk’.
Other than passwords, you can find other information such as SSID, psk/password, and Key MGMT.
